Day 9: What genre of music do you dislike?

Haha... this is actually a really difficult question! I even listen to some country... and yes, I like Katy Perry, Lady GaGa and Rihanna. In my early teens I used to listen to a lot of Eminem, and I still like The Black-Eyed Peas, which means that the supposedly obvious anti-Goth genres pop, country and rap are all out...

I know - jazz! I don't hate it, I just don't really... get it. The boyfriend likes a lot of strange things including drum'n'bass (like it) and acoustic rock (...meh) and apparently also jazz (a recent discovery), but I just can't get into it. I enjoy listening to most kinds of music as I can appreciate a good voice or a talented instrument player, but even though jazz musicians are often very talented the genre does nothing for me. :-/

Here's today's outfit:

Poison necklace: Claire's, £4
Chibi T-shirt: £5, bootsale
Skirt: Sai Sai, Camden, £20
Studded belt: random alt shop, £25
Gloves: skip
Black tights: pinched from mum
Boots: Peacocks sale, £20

Too bad that you don't like jazz, I find it very sexy music.

Being a jazz musician myself, I can truthfully say that jazz is much more fun to play than to listen to. Jazz is my go-to music only when I am absolutely sick of everything else I love, or need to concentrate on some heavy writing, need background noise, and could do without distracting lyrics. While jazz can be exciting (some of the compositions are just deliciously nightmarish to attempt playing) it's mostly just easy listening for me.

You look totally sweet and dark all at the same time. LOVE the pigtails! Oh, and I want to see that bat tattoo on your left shoulder. Maybe we were twins separated at birth (20 years apart? I guess that's unlikely. lol)... :)

I despise pop, I don't get it at all.
When I was a kid everyone listened to s club 7 and Britney spears and I hated them and would rather listen to T. Rex and 70's Bowie, and got bullied a lot for it. It probably scarred me for life.

I love your outfit posts!! :) though I would love to see your boots.

I'm totally with you when it comes to jazz Amy. I respect it as a form of music and I know that it takes a great deal of musical competency to play it well. But alas, it does nothing for me.

Hrr, that's a hard one...I have no idea what I'm going to answer! Jazz, huh? Jazz...

I also dislike jazz :D

But at the same time I really can't get into pop or rap...I'm more a metal or rock fan :)

Your outfit is so awesome!

If you mean trad jazz, I'm completely agree. It's noice for the ears. Rap music makes me shout "Cut it off!!!"
Oh I also love the film Pan's labyrinth. A movie like this wouldn't be able to achieve in Hollywood.
Love your outfits

Hmm, glad it's not just me who listens to some Country every now and then! I was literally brought up on Dolly Parton and I still quite enjoy her music.

I have a hard time completely writing off any one genre, as I don't even like everything amongst my favorites. That said, I would have to say I dislike Nu-Metal ("mall metal") very much. Most of the time I'm indifferent towards what I don't listen to, but I try to find merit before dismissing it (ex-musicology student at work!). I also listen to some decidedly un-goth music (Bollywood anyone?). :)

I dislike the new pop music like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kate perry and the like. Because I simply HATE the mix of religion with sex, and lyrics nonsense about it. I think it's very wrong and shameful. Since I discovered the real meaning of sex, I think why it's so hackneyed... and why the ppl likes it SO MUCH. And I hate hip hop, rap and Brazilian funk too. For the same reason. The inaapropriate use of sex. Like erotic films. It's nasty! =S

Me too >.< I'm not a biggy on jazz...But I do have A confession : I listen to Britney Spears. ^^

PS, Do you like any My Chemical Romance? I know in earlier posts you've regarded it as not Goth, But I luv it. :))

Lady Gaga is amazing! She wears the best outfits and has some of the catchiest dance music.

@ Venus - I used to love Britney too ^^ Yes I do like MCR, they are one of my favourite rock bands.

Okay, here is some of the most goth-friendly jazz: Miles Davis' album Bitches Brew, especially the second disk. "Spanish Key" is a dark and meandering free jazz piece. If you don't like that, then I give up.

LovleAnjel - I will go look it up when I get the chance.

I love jazz! ..and swing too. ^_^ My radio is more or less permanently tuned to JazzFM (which doesn't just play jazz btw) when I'm not listening to classical music or Radio 4. I used to listen to theJazz as well before it was sadly shut down. :-(

I don't like the kind of erm...soft light poppy stuff with some kind of bland muzak style synth playing instead of proper instruments. I really hate that and I hate manufactured crap made through 'talent' shows like the X Factor and Pop Idol. Awful awful stuff. >_<

I just can't stand modern pop music and rap. Too much autotune. Too much syth. I feel that rapping displays no emotion, and a lot of it is just...dirty. Country gets on my nerves, too. However, I am guilty of liking, no, loving "Some Nights" by Fun. What emotion! What a message! I also love those good oldies like Bowie and Oingo Boingo (Danny Elfman! The who composes for Burton! Ya' gotta love 'im!). And by fault of my odd sister, I like J-pop, K-pop, and Motown (She's a steampunk, by the way.)
