Goth radio

So you're broke and you want to listen to Goth music without splashing out on CDs? Or is YouTube not cutting it? Well, here's a guide to some of the best internet radio sites and podcasts overflowing with dark music. All for free. Am I not good to you?

Siouxsie Sioux
Source: The Darkest Show on Earth
Podcasts and videocasts from Kev36663, editor of TWF Magazine, and a DJ at The Charnel House in Newcastle. Featuring all kinds of Goth music, from Goth rock to electronic beats. Updated once a month.

Thirteen13 is a monthly podcast featuring a fantastic collection of old-school/trad Goth tunes. Basically, instant Goth cred here...

RED BLOOD Gothic Radio - playing Goth, Industrial, EBM, electronic dance, indie, synth and black metal. Live365 features the occasional annoying advert unless you sign up, but I haven't given in and signed up yet...

Faery Voices. Playing a mix of neo-classical, ethereal, medieval and darkwave.

In Dark Faith Eternal. Darkwave, ethereal, Gothic and neo-classical.

Cathedral13 - an infamous online Goth radio station. Also occasionally features limited-time-only free downloads.

Digital Gunfire plays Industrial, EBM, electro and Gothic. This is one of my personal favourites. ^^

You can also try Pandora- just say a song or band you like, and they'll play music similar to it.

You can also go hunting on iTunes radio. Sanctuary Radio, http://www.sanctuaryradio.com/, is on iTunes and you can listen to a live stream via their site. I personally listen to this one a lot :). They play a lot of electronic based stuff but they do throw in some of the classics like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Cure to name a few.

Don't forget yours truly :-P Naw, just kidding ..

There are a TON of good Goth radio stations out there, to anyone's surprise. Usually I browse to see if anything is good on iTunes (iTunes runs some streaming stations) and if some stations can get past all of the licensing, some Goth radio shows are available in a podcast form on iTunes as well. You might have to do some hunting, though ..

I lost a lot of my bookmarks when it came to radio stations I streamed in general from when I updated my computer from Windows XP to Ubuntu .. but here are a few I can retrieve:

Sanctuary Radio
Velestar Goth Radio
Dark Asylum Radio
DeathRock Radio TampaFlorida
Psychonaut Radio Show

There is also a "Goth" radio station under AOL's "alternative" category, and Pandora now has genre stations such as "80s alternative," "Industrial," "Classic Punk/New Wave," and around Halloween time they had a "Ghostly Grooves" and "Goth" radio station that I cannot find anymore ..

There are several online radio stations (personal or streamed by an online DJ) that are very lovely and easily accessible, but sometimes they can eat up your bandwidth .. especially if you are running something like Last.fm, Pandora, Slacker.fm, or AOL.

(My CAPTCHA is "slytowel" .. really?)

The Goth radio I love the best and would recommend you is Nightbreed Radio and they play the widest range of dark alternative music in the world 24/7.

The ones I have listened to most include A Darker Shade of Pagan, a couple of the stations on Soma FM (Doomed and Drone Zone are particularly good, but I also like Mission Control), and Gothville. Thanks for these others, some of them look even better!

If you search goth radio on iTunes there are a bunch of wonderful podcasts full of all different types of goth music. A lot of them are free as well! ;)

Also, turntable.fm is a pretty great site for Industrial music(among other genres, of course). It *MAY* still be limited to the US, I dunno :/ But if you can get on, basically you're your own DJ, playing whatever music you want, and you listen to other people DJ, it's kinda cool
