30 Day Clothing Challenge: Day 3

It's nice to be able to give my summer clothes a bit of an airing in this hot weather, but when I had to walk some of the way home from work today I almost dissolved into a sweaty mess! Also, I do find that we spooky types stand out a bit more in summer, when everyone else is in denim shorts and strappy tops with a smothering of fake bake.

3. A piece of clothing or jewelry that was a gift.

This dress was a Christmas gift from my mum. She also added velvet ribbon straps to it to help keep it hoiked up over my non-existent bosom.

Today's look was intended to be lightweight and comfy for work. Very simple but I wear these jeans to death (I have a spare pair on hand!) and I do love my skull tee. :-)

I think you're right about us standing out more in hot weather, Amy. People keep mentioning to me that I'd be a lot cooler in this hot weather if I'd quit wearing black.

I love all the looks you get for using a parasol. <3

This sun brings on my Hay fever, no fun for a professional gardener, anyway I’d love that dress for Christine

I get those comments, too. I live in southern California, and we have only two seasons-hot & cold. The funny thing is, I actually feel cooler if I'm wearing a lightweight top with long sleeves, than I do having the sun hit my bare skin. Also, is wearing all black going to make you that much hotter? It may increase by a couple of degrees, but hot is hot. Period. Once the temps rise above 85 degrees, I really find no difference in the way I feel. Of course, as a result, the backs of my hands are about 5 shades darker than the rest of me, but I do have to draw the line at wearing gloves in July.

Your mother is wonderful. That dress she gave you is so beautiful. Are you keeping it for a special occassion?

I wish I had the persistance to wear jeans during the summer - I'm always in a skirt or shorts!

Does anyone know how to make a finger splint more gothy? I fractured my finger, and now have an really ugly splint on it.....

SkeleDuck - to be honest I'd be terrified to carry a parasol in my hometown. I sometimes carry one around the village where I live if I am with someone but if I wandered into town with it I'd probably get clobbered with it. :-/

'Appy - it's Hell Bunny Limited Edition, I'd recommend eBay. ;-) (There's also a shorter version.)

Anon - I live in much colder climes but I agree, long lightweight sleeves are much cooler.

Linnea-Maria - I don't have a particular occasion in mind, although I may wear it to a Cruxshadows gig in July. I'll tell my mum you said that, she'll be pleased. :-)

theEmocarebear - I would be too... if I'd shaved my legs recently. ;-)

Anon - I have to say I have no idea. Could you wind a black ribbon around it perhaps?

Try wrapping the entire splint on the finger with a black lace ribbon (just be sure the lace has a wide gauge and is lightweight). Or, you can tack black lace or velvet to the actual splint.

Ah I absolutely love those jeans, I had a pair myself up until a couple of months ago when I had to part with them.. they were actually begginning to fall apart and become unwearable - you've just reminded me that I need a new pair! and that dress is so gorgeous :)

Hi. Thank you for all the outfit ideas and such, you've really help me with the goth culture and what-not. Being a young goth is not easy I am home-schooled but still shy to dress the way I want, until I read you blog it truly helps us all.

Thank you!
